Those Bullies!
The gang up and chase one poor Goldfish all over the Pond!
A bunch of Koi push one Koi up against a rock!
We need Disciplinary Action!
Noooo..... that is the mating ritual of Pond Fish!
The males chase egg-bearing females and press them against rocks or the side of the Pond to help release the eggs, which they will then fertilize.
It is best to provide lots of plant cover if baby pond fish are wanted, so the eggs can adhere to the pond plants and are well hidden.
Pond Fish WILL eat their eggs and even very young baby fish. Testing for Ammonia and Nitrites is also a good idea, so these harmful substances - which sometimes spike during spawning - will not hurt the Pond Fish.
