Why you should cover your Pond for Winter..Savings Coupon..Fun (Pond) Fact

There is more than one reason to cover the Garden Pond with Pond Netting for the Winter Season:
Even if there are no trees right next to the Pond, winter winds tend to blow leaves and debris into the water from your neighbors yard and even up the street. Aside from producing sludge, the debris and leaves can have toxic residues which are unhealthy for the Pond Fish.
Once the Pond Plants die down, there is little to no cover for your Pond Fish to hide behind/under from predators and they (Owls, Hawks, Raccoons, Egrets, etc) take advantage of the free meal and go fishing!
Keeping debris out of the Pond as well as adding Cold Weather Beneficial Bacteria goes a long way towards avoiding having to drain and scrub the Pond in the spring! The Cold Weather Bacteria will help keep the Pond Water healthy and digests the smaller pieces of leaves and "stuff" that might make it through the holes of the Pond Netting.
