Vacuuming a Pond is not the same as vacuuming a floor. The Vacuum must move in the relative weightlessness of the water. All the debris, sludge and dirt in the Pond is in the same environment. Consequently, there are certain points to remember when vacuuming your Pond:
- Do not plan to vacuum your entire Pond in 15 or 30 minutes. As a matter of fact, it is best to spread the vacuuming over several days. This gives fine dirt that is disturbed and made to float around time to settle back down.
- Do not use fast movements! This only stirs the dirt up, making it impossible for the vac to suck it up. Instead, vacuum using very slow, deliberate strokes.
- Vacuum a small area of several square feet and then move to a completely different spot. This will give the debris time to settle back down.
- Use a rock cleaner like "Restor" to kill and loosen growth on rocks and liner a couple of days before vacuuming. It will allow the the vac to be more effective.
- If the vac has a debris bag it should be emptied before it becomes too full. Overfilling the debris bag will cause the vac to lose effectiveness.
Please Note: In the case of the Laguna Cordless Pond Vac the Debris Bag has to be IN THE WATER for the Vac to function properly.
