the Growling in your Pond... Pond Bottom Rescue ...Fun (Pond) Fact

Ready to Eat ???Image: Pond Fish at Dinner Table

If you hear a Growling it is probably not your stomach...but your Pond Fish might be HUNGRY !! If your Water Temperature is above 48 degrees, especially if the sun is shining...your Fish are ready to eat.
We fed ours in the Display Pond the first time yesterday and they gobbled it up like little piggies. It is IMPORTANT to feed easily digestible Food at this time of year (remember that Pond Fish digest food only with their intestine and being cold blooded, it is not working at top speed yet).
Good Choices:
PondCare Spring Food , Laguna Wheat Germ or Microbe-Lift Wheat Germ

Now is the time to pay some attention to your Pond Bottom, unless you want to feed algae with that compost pile that is most likely down there this time of year.
Some applications of Tetra Pond Sludge Reducer will go a long way toward preparing your Pond for the warmer temperatures of Spring.
Testing the Pond Water this time of year is also a good idea, to make sure the Pond Fish are not exposed to additional stress after the hardship of Winter.

  Fun (Pond) Fact (TM)

Look closely... if you have Goldfish there might be babies in that Pond!
Goldfish babies, not previously detected, might have made it through the Winter and actually GROWN - they nibble on little pieces of algae for sustenance.
