Tips For Pond Plants That Are Shipped

The PondMarket takes the utmost care to get your plants delivered to you in the best possible condition. However, once the plants leave our premises the handling of the plants is beyond our control. We package the plants with great care and may delay shipment until weather conditions (heat or cold) improve to insure survival of the delicate aquatic plants.

It is normal for aquatic plants to wilt a little during transport, and some leaves and stems may even turn a bit mushy. Here is what you can do to help your plants recover as fast as possible after transport:

  •  In the "comments" field of your order, leave instructions for UPS to leave the plants in a shady area if you are not going to be home at time of delivery (specify the spot for the driver to know exactly where to leave the package)
  • Submerse the plants immediately and completely in a bucket of pond water for an hour or two (but no longer), this will help re-hydrate all parts of the plant.
  • Trim off any mushy leaves/stems -  this will make way for the new growth and blooms to start and get your plant back to normal. (The new growth may still take a week or so)
  • Pot the plant immediately after retrieving it from the bucket of pond water (taking care not to injure the growing tips)
  • Place the pot in your Pond with the rim right at or slightly below water level. (Water Lilies can go deeper than that right away).
