Pond Plant dividing and planting Tips...What to feed your Fish ... Fun (Pond) Fact

Image: Water Lilies and Pond Plants Pond Plants  are so easy to grow (most of them, anyway) that we forget there are a few things that will make them stand out from the crowd:
  • Perforated and/or fabric containers  allow the plants to withdraw more nutrients from the Pond (this reduces algae growth)
  • Water Lilies  do not like fast moving water or getting splashed..locate them away from waterfalls and fountains
  • Water Lilies  and Lotus need lots of sun (minimum 6 hours a day) to bloom consistently
  • All Pond Plants  bloom more profusely and have larger blooms if adequate fertilized

Time for changing Filter Material and UV Bulbs ?

Why is it important what you feed your Pond Fish? Not only influences it the growth, health and color of your Fish, but it also plays a part in the looks and health of your Pond!
Why?
Because what goes in the Fish...must come out....
The better the Pond Fish Food, the more of it is actually digested and absorbed by its digestive system and less gets ...mmhhhh...deposited back in the pond, where it produces sludge and feeds algae.
(Some, however, always gets deposited back in the Pond, that's why it is important to use Beneficial Bacteria to take care of that part)

  Fun (Pond) Fact (TM)

Koi, depending on variety, come to reproductive age at about 10 - 14 inches. Like Goldfish, they scatter the eggs all over the Pond. Most of the eggs are eaten by the other Pond Fish (a very favorite food) unless they settle in a well hidden spot (like plants).
