Summer
Tips

|
Lot's of sun, warm water, fertilizer (fish poopoo) is a PERFECT environment for plants. While we love our pond plants to take advantage of that and show off at their very best this time of year, we often forget that Algae is a plant, too !!! It loves summer just as much as other Pond Plants do.
What can we do to make things a bit more uncomfortable for Algae?
Here are some Tips:
- make sure
Filter Media and Pads
, including
Pump pre-Filters
are in tip-top condition to catch more of the stuff
- use a good
Beneficial Bacteria to a) eat some of the nutrients out of the Pond and b) digest some of the goo the filters are catching
-
clean up ugly growth of any sort on rocks, liner, waterfalls, etc almost effortlessly with a good
Oxygen Cleaner
- hook up an
Ultra Violet Clarifier
to keep the water sparkling clear (they even make them for use INSIDE of Pond Skimmers
- feed a quality, low fieber
Fish Food
(it produces less fish poopoo)

Staff Tip: Tired of Cleaning....Pond Pumps?
Get one that is "solids handling" and "clog resistant" and make your summer much, much easier!
Pond Pumps used to be measured by this standard:
1) must be able to run 24/7 and must be 2) oil free
But now...that we all know better we also want:
3) and end to constant Pump cleaning and 4) energy efficiency
These
Pond Pumps cover ALL those points !! |

Fun (Pond) Fact
(TM)
Many of us are having feathered Predator problems this year. That is because in many areas the usual hunting grounds are flooded.
Cover the Pond
for a while with netting, the Hawks, Herons, Owls, etc usually move on to more unprotected Ponds in just a little while. |
