If algae is persistent, or frequent treatments are needed, be sure to:
Test the pH of the pond and adjust as necessary to proper levels, 6.0-7.5
Apply a Barley Bale to the Pond when using AlgaeOff. Once the Barley Bale begins to break down, in 2-3 weeks, algae treatments should become less frequent.
It is also recommended to test phosphate levels and use a Phosphate Binder if necessary. Phosphate is a major food source for algae.
The regular use of Beneficial Bacteria (weekly or monthly depending on the pond) will also reduce nutrients available to algae, making algae blooms less frequent.
