>>> NEWS, NEWS AND MORE NEWS
Brrrr, it sure has been cold here! But we have made good
use of the cold weather and have been working hard on lots
of updates to the website as well as lots and lots of
changes at the retail store.
For now, check out the stuff on the web:
We have a brand-new logo that is right now undergoing the
trademark process. We think it is great looking and are
pretty proud of it!
Let us know what you think!!
We have re-done all of our e-books and they are now in a
very cool format that looks like you are reading a real
book.
They are also now available on CD for those of you with
dial-up internet connections who have sometimes had problems
with downloading this size of file.
Mac and Unix versions are not yet available.
Check out our "About us" page. Major renovation there!
It even has a new picture of "yours truly" on it now (the
other one was years and years old).
AUCTIONS: I just got done putting a few things out there
that we have found while cleaning up the warehouse for
spring. Giving it away pretty darn cheap!
Check it out!
Any of the above items can easily be reached with just a
click or two by going to our main page at:

>>> IMPORTANT WINTER TIPS FOR PONDS
With so much of the country in a deep freeze, we thought it
is important that we update everyone on some important witner
information for your ponds and more importantly the
critters in it:
-- DO NOT beat on the ice to open it up! The resulting
shock waves can greatly harm the fish!
-- DO make sure that the pond is never solidly frozen over
for any length of time, the critters in it need oxygen to
to survive and harmful gases produced by decomposing
organic matter need to be able to vent out.
-- SWEEP snow of the ice if necessary so sunlight can enter,
otherwise algae and other bottom plants cannot produce
oxygen and will start taking it out of the water possibly
suffocating your fish.
CAUTION: DO NOT step on the ice! It may not be thick enough
to support you and you could fall into the pond!
-- Holes can be produced in the ice on the pond by pouring
hot water on it or by using an electric de-icer (available
in our online store). Be careful, of course, not to scald
yourself if using the hot water method!
>>> FUN (POND) FACT
Koi generally only spawn once a year (typically sometime
between March and June), but produce thousands of eggs.
If the adult Koi are not separated from the eggs they will
immediately start to eat them and the survival rate of
eggs and baby Koi drops to much less than 50%!
Know anyone who is thinking about building a pond or
already has one? Please pass this newsletter on to them
and let them know about all the great resources and
information available at http://www.pondmarket.com
Thank You!
