Why is the aeration system able to handle larger ponds the deeper the pond is?

Aeration systems are more efficient in deeper water because the “cone” of air protruding from the diffuser can spread out more in deeper water because there is more physical area in a deeper pond. Thus, shallower ponds need more airstones and larger compressors to effectively circulate the water. In essence, the deeper the pond, the less air is needed to effectively circulate and aerate the pond.
