Fish with swollen side

Question:

my dad has a fish in his pond, that the right side is swollen out. We first thought she might having babies , but so far she not, the fish has been like this for several weeks now.He has taken it out the pond and has it in a holding tank by itself. Is there anything that can be done for the fish.

Answer:

It is difficult to diagnose a fish health problem without seeing the fish. It sounds like an infection and/or parasite. The safest way to possibly help the fish is to add some anti-bacterial fish medication to the food and increase the salidity of the pond by adding pond salt.
