New UV light user
Question:
I recently added a UV light to my pond after its spring cleaning. Although my water is crystal clear, I am getting what I call algea hair on my rocks and waterfall. Do I have to turn off the UV ligtht when I add bacteria? Will the UV light kill bacteria
Answer:
Using a UV Light in conjunction with Beneficial Bacteria is just fine. When adding your Beneficial Bacteria in it is typically suggested that you turn off your UV Light for 24-48 hours to allow the Beneficial Bacteria a place to settle in somewhere. Usually you should be able to find the recommended instructions for use of your Beneficial Bacteria along with a UV Light somewhere on the box.
